Drug Uses
Lamisil is used to treat onychomycosis of toe or finger nails due to dermatophytes.

How Taken
Use Lamisil as directed by your doctor. To treat toenail fungus Lamisil is taken for 6–12 weeks. However, it may take a few months after stopping the treatment for your fungus to be cured completely, as it takes some time for a healthy nail to grow. Follow your doctor`s prescriptions carefully. Do not take more of it or for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.

Warnings/Precautions
You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment or you may not be able to use Lamisil at all if you have– liver or kidney disease, allergic reaction to Lamisil, immune system or blood problems. This drug is in the FDA pregnancy category B. Which means that animal–reproduction studies have not demonstrated a fatal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women, or animal–reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the first trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). It is known that Lamisil passes into breast milk. Therefore, do not take Lamisil without your doctor`s approval if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– Change in sense of taste, diarrhea, gas, indigestion, itching, nausea, rash. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately– allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), dark urine, fever, infection, loss of appetite, pale stools, peeling skin, severe skin rash, sore throat, stomach pain, tiredness, unexplained, persistent nausea, vision changes, vomiting, yellowing of skin or eyes.

Storage
Store this medication at a temperature below 25 °C (77 °F), Keep away from children and excess heat, light and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Lamisil overdose are– nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, and headache.

More Information
Do not take Lamisil if you are allergic to it. Avoid drinking alcohol during your treatment. Lamisil and alcohol may increase your risk of liver damage.
