Drug Uses
Vytorin is used to lower high cholesterol in patients with certain conditions. Vyntorin is only effective along with an appropriate diet. It may also be used for other conditions determined by your doctor.

How Taken
Vytorin comes in tablets to be taken with or without food. Usual dosage is 10 mg once a day.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Vytorin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Vytorin, if you have low blood pressure, a serious infection, kidney problems, diabetes, or a history of seizures, if you are very ill, have certain muscle problems (e.g., pain, weakness), or have metabolism, hormonal, or electrolyte problems, if you drink alcohol or have a history of liver problems or alcohol abuse, have a certain type of high cholesterol (homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia), have had an organ transplant or have recently had major surgery or a serious injury, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- constipation, dizziness, flushing, giddiness, headache, heartburn, heat sensation, lightheadedness, nausea, weakness. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), irregular pulse, shortness of breath, swelling of the feet or hands, tender, bleeding, or swollen gums.

Storage
Store this medication at room temperature, between 59 –86 °F (15 –30 °C) in a tightly closed container. Keep away from heat, moisture, and light (not in the bathroom). Keep the medication out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Some of the possible symptoms of overdose are- dizziness, fainting, loss of consciousness, rapid, slow, or irregular heartbeat.

More Information
Vytorin may cause dizziness or blurred vision. These effects may worsen if Vytorin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Vytorin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Vytorin should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
